Joe Albi Stadium - Spokane, Wa
Spokane Shine win 3-0
Shine - 12 Shots, 12 Saves
Goals: Annie Millard 21st (assist Ashley Ames)
Marissa Mykines PK 25th
Jaymie Balcom 47th (assist Marissa Mykines)
The sun came out on Sunday as the Spokane Shine dominated for much of the match as Spokane shutout the Rain, 3-0.
The first half was all Shine as Ashley Ames found Annie Millard who put the ball in the back of the net in the 21st minute to make it 1-0. Not even 4 minutes later, Millard was brought down in the box and it was Marissa Mykines who converted the penalty kick to make it 2-0.
In the second half, Mykines would find Jaymie Balcom in the 47th minute to go up 3-0. Portland would go on to take 10 shots on goal in the second half, but goalies Sarah Wood and Shannon Delarosbil would not be denied as the duo helped the Shine to the shutout.
Spokane (2-2-1) will take next weekend off before heading to Portland to face the Rain on July 1st. The Shine will finish up their home games the following weekend at North Idaho College (1000 West Garden Avenue, Coeur d'Alene, Idaho) as they host the Oregon Rush. Tickets can be purchased at the gate for $5.
