Spokane Shine Midfielder Jael Hagerott Named "Team Of The Week" Honorable Mention By WPSL

Spokane Shine midfielder Jael Hagerott was named honorable mention for the WPSL team of the week for her performance this past weekend against the Oregon Rush. Hagerott scored the lone goal in a 1-0 victory on Saturday off of a scorching free kick in the 79th minute.

Hagerott, a graduate of Whitworth University, took over as head coach of the women's squad at Whitworth this past spring. She and her father, Daman Hagerott, switched roles as the elder Hagerott took over her previous role as his assistant.

Jael Hagerott, who is largely regarded as one of the greatest female soccer players to come from the greater Spokane area, was a two time CoSIDA Academic All-American. Hagerott holds the all-time record for assists (30) and is one of the all-time goal scorers in Pirate history with 30 in her four years there. Her performance in 2007 helped to lead the Pirates to an 18-3 finish along with an appearance in the NCAA Division III tournament that same year.

The Spokane Shine begin their home opening weekend this Saturday June 11th with a 7pm start at Joe Albi Stadium as they take on the first place Portland Rain. Tickets can be purchased at the gate or at TicketWest.com.
